Welcome to Dreamcatcher Hostel, where all guests leave as friends. 
We will be your home away from home during your stay in Golden!

Our Rooms

Private Family Rooms (en-suite) - These rooms feature two sets of bunk beds; one single over double and one single over single. Plus an en-suite bathroom.

Private Rooms (en-suite) – Our private rooms all have a single over double bunk bed and a private en-suite bathroom.

Dorm beds - Our six-bed dorm rooms have shared bathrooms, feature privacy curtains, bedside lights&outlets and lockers (BYO lock)!

The private rooms on the top floor; Moose has a queen bed, Cougar a single bed and Grizzly has a single over double bunk and a single over single bunk. There is a shared bathroom in the hallway on this floor.

Check-in - Check-out - Quiet time

We are open for check-in between 4 pm and 11 pm. Check-out is by 10 am.

Quiet time at the hostel is from 11:30 pm to 7 am. All common areas and the kitchen are closed during that time.

Reservations & cancellations

Reserving a room/bed at the hostel requires a credit card upon booking.

Reservations of less than 14 days can be cancelled free of charge until 7 days ahead of your stay, after that the first night will be charged. The full amount is charged if cancelled less than 2 days ahead of the stay unless rooms/beds can be filled again. Conditions may vary if booked through 3rd party websites. Different cancellation conditions may apply for stays of more than 2 weeks, please inquire.

Long term rates

We do not typically offer long-term, i.e. weekly or monthly, rates. There might be a discount available for stays of 28 days or more, please inquire ahead of making a booking.

Group bookings 

We reserve the right to refuse group bookings for more than six rooms as it can negatively impact other guests' experiences at the hostel. For groups that require more than six of our rooms we suggest booking the entire hostel at a special rate. Cancellation conditions may vary for group bookings.

We do not accept stag or hen (bachelor/bachelorette) groups.

Dreamcatcher Hostel has a 'no shoe' policy. This includes any shoes that have been worn outside, whether hiking boots, sandals, ski boots etc. If you don't like to go barefoot or wear socks then please bring slippers or flip-flops that have not been outside. We are famous for being very clean and this helps us to maintain our standards.

Although our dog sometimes hangs out in the common area at the hostel we do not accept pets to stay in the guest rooms.

All guests arriving at the Dreamcatcher will need to present a valid credit card and photo I.D. at check-in.

Families with well-behaved children are welcome - one child under 12 stays free in existing beds, All others pay the adult rate.

Minimum age to stay in a dorm is 19 if traveling alone, 12 if traveling with a parent.

Guest Behaviour: The comfort, safety and security of our guests is of supreme importance to us. Any guest(s) who compromises the comfort, safety or security of other guests, staff or local residents will be requested to leave the hostel and will not be offered a refund. Guests are expected to respect other guests, staff, local residents and property. In the case of groups, the group leaders must ensure that all members of their group behave in an acceptable manner. Failure of any individual group member to do so will result in the expulsion of the whole group.

Alcohol policy: If you can handle your drink, by all means have a few in the common area and kitchen. We do not allow alcohol in the rooms. If you go out and return after 11.30 pm, we expect that you keep quite, The common areas and kitchen are closed after 11.30 pm. 

Getting Here

 

We are located at the end of Golden's Main Street, a perfect base for exploring the town or the surrounding area. 

BY ROAD: From the east or west; exit the number one highway following signs for Golden. The exit road circles down - stay to the right and continue under the bridge. This road becomes Highway 95 South. Dreamcatcher Hostel is 500 metres along on your right. 

DRIVING TIME TO GOLDEN: Lake Louise 1hour - Banff 1h30 - Jasper 4hours - Radium Hot Springs 1h15 - Rogers Pass (Glacier N.P) 1h - Revelstoke 1h50 - Fernie 4hours - Edmondton 6h30

AIRPORTS: Calgary is our nearest airport at 3 hrs drive. Vancouver is an 8hr drive. 

BUS/SHUTTLERider Express runs a limited bus service between Calgary and Vancouver with stop in Golden. Golden Shuttle runs a daily shuttle between Golden and Calgary Airport, as well as a frequent shuttle between Golden and Kicking Horse Resort.

Alternatively, you can rideshare to Golden. Visit Poparide to get a ride with someone in their car.

Cross Country Skiing
Cross country skiing in Golden BC offers groomed classic and skate cross country ski trails, and many options
for creating your own tracks across frozen lakes and through forests.

Indoor Climbing at the Dogtooth Gym
Enjoy Top Roping and Lead Climbing routes in our main climbing area, plus an abundance of boulder routes in our bouldering cave.

Rogers Pass Ski Touring
World class ski touring terrain about 60 minutes from Golden

Snowmobiling
Golden has plenty of choices for snowmobilers to play with over 240km of groomed trails, 4 maintained areas and 13 distinct zones

Bacchus Books
The upstairs café (9am - 5.30pm) is worth a visit to sit and browse among the books while enjoying delicious homemade fare, excellent coffee and good WIFI.

Big Bend Cafe
Attached to the hostel. Huge, tasty breakfasts and lunches.

The Eagles Eye
Eat at the highest restaurant in North America situated at the top of Kicking Horse Mountain; fabulous food at regular prices. The best views to eat your lunch to!

Nagomi Sushi
Fast, fresh and flavoursome; eat-in or take-out; just across 9th Avenue from the hostel.

Eleven22
A charmingly renovated heritage house in the south of town, open evenings only with an interesting fusion menu.

The Island
A beautiful log building with large deck over the Kicking Horse River; has a great menu with something for everyone, a relaxed atmosphere and chilled local beers on tap.

The Wolf’s Den
Popular sports bar with good homemade food including hefty burgers. Funky live music and lively atmosphere.
