We are open for check-in between 4 pm and 11 pm. Check-out is by 10 am.
Quiet time at the hostel is from 11:30 pm to 7 am. All common areas and the kitchen are closed during that time.
Reservations & cancellations
Reserving a room/bed at the hostel requires a credit card upon booking.
Reservations can be cancelled free of charge until 7 days ahead of your stay, after that the first night will be charged. The full amount is charged if cancelled less than 2 days ahead of the stay unless rooms/beds can be filled again. Conditions may vary if booked through 3rd party websites.
Group bookings
We reserve the right to refuse group bookings for more than six rooms as it can negatively impact other guests' experiences at the hostel. For groups that require more than six of our rooms we suggest booking the entire hostel at a special rate. Cancellation conditions may vary for group bookings.
We do not accept stag or hen (bachelor/bachelorette) groups.
Dreamcatcher Hostel has a 'no shoe' policy. This includes any shoes that have been worn outside, whether hiking boots, sandals, ski boots etc. If you don't like to go barefoot or wear socks then please bring slippers or flip-flops that have not been outside. We are famous for being very clean and this helps us to maintain our standards.
Although our dog sometimes hangs out in the common area at the hostel we do not accept pets to stay in the guest rooms.
All guests arriving at the Dreamcatcher will need to present a valid credit card and photo I.D. at check-in.
Families with children are welcome - children under 11 do not pay the extra person charge in private rooms. Minimum age applies in dorms, see below.
Minimum age to stay in a dorm is 19 if travelling alone, 12 if travelling with a parent. No bed sharing in dorms.
Guest Behaviour: The comfort, safety and security of our guests is of supreme importance to us. Any guest(s) who compromises the comfort, safety or security of other guests, staff or local residents will be requested to leave the hostel and will not be offered a refund. Guests are expected to respect other guests, staff, local residents and property. In the case of groups, the group leaders must ensure that all members of their group behave in an acceptable manner. Failure of any individual group member to do so will result in the expulsion of the whole group.
Alcohol policy: If you can handle your drink, by all means have a few in the common area and kitchen. We do not allow alcohol in our dorms. If you go out and return after 11.30 pm, we expect that you keep quite. The common areas and kitchen are closed after 11.30 pm.
Things to do
You like being outdoors? It’s hard to see how you could get bored in our neck of the woods. Here are a few of our favorites!
We will gladly assist you with recommendations and bookings at the front desk.
LOOKING FOR A PACKAGE DEAL? Check out what our friends at EPIC ROCKIES have to offer!
MOUNTAIN BIKING - Great trails for all abilities wait on either side of the valley, plus of course the bike park at Kicking Horse. Find a trail map here and make sure to pay your trail fees so the Golden Cycling Club can continue its awesome work.
RAFTING - Go on a wild ride down the class 4 white water of the Kicking Horse River with our friends at Glacier Rafting.
HIKING - We are truly in a special spot: Six national parks within reach, plus many more ranges and valleys to explore that are not on any official hiking map. Check Golden Hikes for some great local hikes and Parks Canada for national parks.
KICKING HORSE MOUNTAIN RESORT - Downhill mountain biking, a Via Ferrata, Boo the resident Grizzly bear, ridge-top hikes, Canada’s highest restaurant, disc golf and a fantastic view; there’s plenty of reasons to come up and visit!
WILDLIFE VIEWING - Visit Leo on his Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch to learn about and get close to the most iconic North American animal that once roamed the prairies by the millions. Or join the Northern Lights Wolf Center to meet one of our apex predators, and then come up to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort to say Hi to Boo the Bear!
GOLDEN SKYBRIDGE - Canada’s highest suspension bridges, a Zipline, a Giant Canyon Swing and a Rope Park, plus awesome views and a beautiful setting!
PADDLING - One of North America’s largest wetlands are right at our doorstep here in the Columbia Valley. They are best explored in a kayak, canoe or paddle board, which you can rent at Columbia Wetlands Adventures. You can hang out at their pirate ship dock, take a dip in the lagoon or follow a mapped out loop around the wetland channels. If you’re looking to paddle a stretch of the Columbia River, check out the self-guided trip offered by Paddle Golden, which offers rentals and a shuttle.
DISC GOLF - Fancy a casual (or competitive?) round of disc golf? There’s a sweet 18hole course in town and a very outside-the-box 50+ hole course down at Parson’s Organic Sports Ranch.
